The Department of Occupational Therapy at Eastern Washington University (Spokane campus) invites applications for qualified occupational therapists seeking a full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty position. We are looking for individuals with experience working in geriatrics, mental health settings, or health and wellness. This tenure-track position is for an assistant professor. The successful applicant will have clinical expertise in one of the areas listed above and be expected to teach in one or more of these areas as well as several first-year courses. The applicant will be expected to engage in scholarly activities, supervise MOT research or capstone projects, and engage in professional, university and departmental service. The department is housed in the College of Health Science based on the EWU Spokane campus. The college and department prepare students to help meet the growing market demand in the critical fields of health care and education. The College of Health Science is home to several nationally accredited undergraduate and graduate programs with an increased focus on inter-professional education (IPE). The Department of Occupational Therapy at Eastern Washington University is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Occupational Therapy Education. We are situated within the College of Health Sciences and Public Health (CHSPH) and operate in a new and well-equipped campus in the University District near downtown Spokane.
The college includes six other health science programs Physical Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Public Health, Dental Hygiene, Wellness and Movement Sciences, Health Sciences Administration and pre-Nursing. Our campus is inter-collegiate and includes medical, nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry programs. CHSPH has well established community partnerships and a commitment to serving rural and under-represented populations. The Department works with school districts, an agency offering services to children with autism, a drop-in center for homeless women, a veteran's maker space, a parasports program, a day program for adults with developmental disabilities, a variety of mental health and substance abuse treatment programs, as well as with local hospitals, clinics, and private practices. We look forward to developing additional opportunities for community-engaged scholarship. Faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning. Additionally, the candidate selected for this position may be expected to teach face-to-face classes, hybrid or blended classes and ;or online classes according to the needs of the department.
