Law and Policy Advocate
The Women's Prison Project (WPP) is a collaboration between two of the law school's nationally recognized clinics, the Domestic Violence Clinic and the Criminal Justice Clinic. The Project seeks justice and freedom for Louisiana women who are unjustly incarcerated for killing an abusive partner or for participating in crimes under the duress of an abusive partner. The Project is hiring a policy advocate who will 1) collect, monitor, assess, and report on relevant local and national data, legislative developments and policy initiatives, 2) help develop model law and policy in collaboration with other stakeholders and partners, 3) lead the Project's local and regional coalition building efforts, community outreach, and community organizing, and 4) coordinate the Project's public education programming.
The position has year-round responsibilities and will require travel, including overnight, throughout the state of Louisiana, and occasionally throughout the country. While this position is listed as part time, the position is flexible, depending on your availability.
